Masaryk University 90th anniversary celebrations
On 28th January 2009 Masaryk University celebrated the 90th anniversary of its founding. “Nowadays we are one of the big Central European universities. We are a stable, successful and constantly developing institution with a visible strategy and realistic goals shared by the entire university community,” says Petr Fiala, the Rector of Masaryk University. “We are ready to make the most of new opportunities and, as in previous years, to become pioneers in Czech higher education - all the more for the fact that it was with this ethos in mind that Masaryk University was established those 90 years ago. Thus the best way to celebrate our anniversary is by facing new challenges without fear or self-pity and by holding our own with self-confidence, even in less favourable conditions - as a successful European university.”
